About Us

My approach favours the teachings of T. Krishnamacharya and T.K.V. Desikachar and after studying with KHYF in the UK and intensive study at the Krishnamacharya Yoga Mandiram in Chennai, India I am qualified as a TSYP yoga teacher continuing to develop therapy teaching with a particular interest in the areas of emotional and mental wellbeing.

I work as a class Yoga teacher offering yoga therapeutically, and am registerd for Therapeutic Yoga with CNHC (Complementary and Natural Health Council) as well as the Internal Asociation of Yoga Therapists C-IAYT.  I have trained with Yoga Academy, Simon Low, and training with Julie Friedeberger enabled me to offer yoga to people living with cancer. I subsequently continued to deepen and focus my study with The Society of Yoga Practitioners (TSYP) enabling me to offer therapeutic yoga on a 1-2-1 and appropriate class basis, underpinned by the use of regular personal practice.

I see Yoga as a holistic system which can help bring balance and harmony on all levels:  body, breath, mind and emotion.  Yoga practice encourages the unfolding of the qualities of self-awareness, resilience, stability and trust that help us to meet challenges and to use them as opportunities for growth and change.

Yoga offers a range of practical tools to help mobilise our inner resources.  Those tools include physical movement (asana) led by the breath, the style could be described as meditative movement and is suitable for all levels regardless of age, injury and flexibility. Classes include breath led asana (postures), pranayama and rest with some sessions including Yoga Nidra, to promote the liberating qualities of holistic well being, strengthening and ease of movement, breath and mind .

I see myself as a student first and continue to develop my own practice and teaching.

'I am in my third year of attending your classes. In that time we have all advanced from our different starting points and have understood that we are also "our own teachers."  You are very aware of individual difficulties and conditions and help people accordingly so that we work at our own pace. You demonstrate when necessary, use paired work with supervision, and help people to adjust their bodies, if needed. We learn the benefits of each posture and how they make sequences that we can learn, for home practice, also which muscles we are using. We are also learning some Sanskrit along the way.

We have also become close friends as a group and all support each other, enjoying trying new postures, in fact, having fun!'                                                                                             Lynne, Cambridgeshire and Hampshire
